Who it's for:Beginners
What it’s about:
The Open Water Diver course is typically a 4-day intensive program leading to
entry-level certification as an open water diver.
The Open Water Diver Referral is a portion of the Open Water Diver course. Most of our
referral students come to us having completed everything but the four open water dives. The
Referral is a good option for students who want to begin their course at home and finish here.
Once you complete either course, you will have the basic knowledge to dive safely and have fun.
This certification is recognized worldwide and allows you to dive unsupervised. It is also the
pre-requisite for additional diving courses.
How it works:For the full Open Water course, you will use the Open Water Diver
course materials and
- view the five modules of the Open Water Diver video
- study the Open Water Diver manual
- complete the review questions and quizzes for each chapter
- participate in five confined water modules
- complete an un-timed swim test and float/tread test
- do four open water dives
For the Referral course, your original instructor will provide documentation of what you’ve covered in the course
up to the point of the referral. Your new instructor will take over from there and complete the remaining training
segments with you.
What’s included:For the full course, classroom sessions, confined water sessions, four open water
dives, equipment rental, manual, certification fees. For the referral course, classroom, pool and open water
training sessions as needed, equipment rental, certification fees.
What’s extra: Additional open water dives.
Other info:The first two days are dedicated to confined water and theory sessions. Students should read
the manual ahead of time to prepare for these sessions. The third and fourth days include four open water dives. This
is an intensive course if done over four straight days; the same content can be covered over a longer time span for
a more leisurely course.
Referrals are valid for one year from the last training date in the documentation.
Instructors are expected to assess each referral student’s skills and knowledge before moving forward with training.
