 Koh Bida Nok
|
Overview:The companion to Bida Nai, this island is Y-shaped, with a
small, rocky bay at the southeastern end where snorkelers can enjoy observing the
many tropical fish that make their home among the boulders. There is no beach.
|
Characteristics:The eastern side of the island consists of a sloping reef with
a mix of hard and soft corals among rocks. The northern end of the island is spectacular, with
soft coral covered walls, huge boulders and swim throughs.
Highlights:Black tip reef sharks are often seen in the shallows at the
northeastern end of the island, while leopard sharks may be found resting in the sand. A huge
variety of reef fish along with schooling fusiliers, snappers, and barracudas make this dive
feel like you're in an aquarium.
Marcia's notes:Like its companion, this island is suitable for divers of all experience
levels. Currents run from the southeast to northwest and vice versa. The long distance from
Phuket means boat rides of up to three hours, or one hour by speedboat.
