Marina Rock

  Marina Rock
  • Overview:

Located on the more rugged west side of Koh Racha Noi, this site is a boulder field extending from a granite headland that encloses one side of Marina Bay to the north. The topography is reminiscent of some of the sites in the Similans.

  • Characteristics:

The most interesting aspect of the dive site is the presence of numerous swim-throughs. There are places where divers can swim figure eights, around, under and between stacked boulders. The deepest swim-throughs bottom out at about 24 meters.

  • Highlights:

In addition to the opportunities to swim around the maze of rocks, the nooks and crannies between and among them provide sheltered areas for reef fish and corals. Fusiliers and jacks are commonly seen here, as are schools of blue-line snappers.

  • Marcia's notes:

This site is a lot of fun to dive, but it requires good buoyancy control, and it tends to be deep. For these reasons, it is generally recommended for experienced open water divers or advanced open water divers and up.
