 Bungalow Bay north reef

 Bungalow Bay south reef
|
Characteristics:The bay, bordered by rocky headlands falling steeply
into the water, cuts deeply into the west side of Koh Racha Yai. Both sides of the
bay offer sites filled with fish, healthy hard coral gardens and boulders.
The sandy middle of the bay is studded with large coral heads. Maximum depth is
about 22 meters.
|
Highlights:Besides the typical reef fish like parrotfish, angelfish, morays,
butterfly fish, and snappers, less commonly spotted marine life is also sometimes found here.
Frogfish and ornate ghost pipefish are known to make their appearances, and nudibranchs of many
sorts can be seen.
Marcia's notes:This site is a favorite of instructors and students because of the lack of current
and shallow areas in the bay. If you're already a diver, explore the reef walls following the drift of tidal currents.
But be careful of currents at the corners of the bay as they may be strong.
