This wide bay is located at the northern end of Koh Racha
Yai. In 2006 several huge concrete statues were sunk in the deeper part of the bay
and are fun places to take a picture of a diver “riding an elephant” or swimming
through a “temple gate.”
Characteristics:
The bay offers a relatively shallow dive on a sloping reef
featuring pore coral heads from depths of about 5 meters to about 15 meters, where sand
takes over. Currents are typically mild but can pick up at the corners.
Highlights:
The coral heads are literally swarming with basselets and
damselfish, with other reef fish also common. The sandy areas are full of
blue-spotted Kuhl’s stingrays, and founder also populate the area. Batfish sometimes
hang out near the bigger coral heads in the shallows.
Marcia's notes
This dive site offers a sheltered place for boats and divers
when a stiff wind is blowing. Appropriate for all experience levels.
