Who it's for:Advanced Open Water Divers
What it’s about:This intensive 3+ day program is among the most rewarding courses divers do. You gain
awareness and learn skills for prevention of problems, self-rescue, rescue of another, and emergency management. It’s
a serious and challenging course, and yet as it includes simulations, it is also a lot of fun!
How it works:Using the Rescue course materials, you
- view the Rescue Diver video
- study the five chapters of the Rescue Diver manual
- complete the review questions for each chapter and a written test
- complete an emergency assistance plan/template
- participate five confined water rescue training sessions
- complete four open water rescue training scenarios
What’s included:Class sessions, confined water sessions, open water dives, equipment rental, manual,
certification fees.
What’s extra: CPR and First Aid training, if not certified (required)
Other info: The focus of this course is on prevention of dive-related accidents as well as in
problem-solving should a mishap occur. The rescue skills and knowledge divers gain in this course compares to the level
of skill in a typical first-aid course for land-based emergency assistance. While neither a first aid course nor a
rescue diver course requires a professional level of training and expertise, both are essential to managing emergencies
until help arrives.
